Tough day of parenting

It has been a tough parenting day for us. Our three year old was testing out his independence in many ways.

I am happy to say that he is safe and in his bed. I am going to just think ahead and be glad that my hubby has the next 8 days off to help me guide our little guy to make the correct choices during his day.

I love Andy Stanley's parenting style and it is easier for me to think in this framework when all I do is discipline each day.

In his series "Future Family" he shares these parenting stages:

1-5 years:  Discipline
5-12 years:  Training
12-18  Coaching
18+   Friendship

I totally agree that by the time they are 12, some parents are trying to discipline their kids. Not going to work out well.

So, I will be glad when we are out of the first stage with both my kids because it is exhausting right now.

Now, to clean the kitchen and hang up the laundry because little man did not take a nap today.  Life as a mom is never ending and very rewarding.

22 & 23

GF Banana Bread

I have GF banana bread in the oven, veggies cut for my Quinoa dinner. I am feeling great about spoiling my boys this week. Lots of baking will be going down....

Argue

Jackson likes to argue with his loving parents. He likes to say the opposite of whatever you say trying to start his three year old independence.

Today, we ended up having a conversation at lunch where I felt that I successfully made my point. It went something like this:

J: What are you eating, mom? (yes, he is calling me "mom" sometimes. It doesn't bother me, just seems funny to hear it)

M: I am eating a salad.

J: Ew, that is gross.

M: How do you know it is gross? Have you tried this salad before? It is very good if you would like to try it.

J: Ew, salad is gross.

I put some on his plate.
He takes a bite of cucumber and then a baby carrot.

J: Hmmm….that is very good. May I have more, mom?

M: Oh, you want some of my gross salad? Do you think it is gross anymore, silly goose? I want you to try things before you assume they are gross.

J: I like salad. May I have more, please? (after eating 3-4 more helpings)

Win for Mom and for Jackson!

Fun, busy morning!

Jack got to stay home with Daddy and have some bonding time while I went to Mommy Matters and then had Chick-fil-a for lunch. They hosted us to try the new grilled chicken. Free Chick-fil-a meal! Woohoo! I LOVE the new grilled chicken and it is way better than the old version. I also enjoyed just a little bit more mommy time and time away with my friends. It was nice to get to know some of the ladies better and enjoy some delicious food.

Now, I am thrilled because it is rainy, which means that my sweet boy will (hopefully) be snoozing a while so I can catch up on this mound of laundry. I love seeing the bottom of the laundry baskets. So rewarding!

Then, lots of fun inside activities planned for this afternoon. I feel energized and ready to spend the rest of the day with my little love.
