Real
I can now feel Jackson kicking when I put my hand on Laura's tummy. Every day, it becomes more real that we will be holding our baby boy in our arms in just four months.

soccer star
Jackson enjoys kicking. He is an active little boy! He already loves his Nini and G because when I came over he was having a blast! My dad finally got to feel him and I loved watching his expression when he felt him kick. Mom was excited (as I imagined), but Dad's eyes bugged out of his head!
I am going to enjoy this week off from school!!! I will get some Alphabetography complete (working on 11 orders), read some of my pregnancy books, and register some more. We started registering and it took us 2 hours to get through a part of the store. It is so much fun!!!
Well, gotta get ready to go to the movies! We will be seeing Mega mind. I will let you know my ratings on this new film!

22 weeks :)
According to What to Expect Book:
This week, your baby weighs in at a whopping pound and measures nearly eight inches, about the size of a small doll. But your little doll (who now has eyebrows, eyelashes, and maybe even some hair on that little head) is a living one who can now perceive light and dark. He can also hear your voice, your heartbeat, your gurgling stomach, and the whoosh-whoosh of blood circulating through your body. And as his brain and nerve endings develop, he may reach forhis face (or whatever he can reach) just to experiment with his newfound sense of touch.
I am shocked at how quickly time has passed and how much the Lord has shown Ben and I over the past months.
One thing is for certain - we are blessed!
I can't wait to bring Jackson home! What a joy it is to pray for him and his life. Ben is already practicing by reading Dr. Suess to him while I rock in my glider. He enjoys coming home and greeting my belly and enjoys telling him goodnight each night. He is going to be an amazing daddy!
The next few months will fly by, so I hope to enjoy every moment and cherish the together time that Ben and I have as a couple before we become parents. We already enjoyed ourselves by getting away to Blue Ridge and spending the night in a spa/suite. It was very relaxing and much needed.
What an awesome journey we are on! Ben is working at Resurgens along with 2 days a week for a couple of hours at Tailgater's Alley. We are getting ready to buy another car (more baby friendly). I am teaching and working on Alphabetography for the holidays. I am currently working on 9 orders at the moment! God is truly blessing us! Teaching is going well and I am asking for more help each day in the classroom. I realize that it will get harder for me to pick colored pencils and yarn off the floor. My students are recognizing when I am having a hard time and jump to my aid. It has been nice!
22 weeks of enjoying pregnancy, monthly appointments, and soon registering!!! The Lord has blessed us with so many wonderful opportunites to receive "hand-me-down" items that help with cost! We will be registering over Thanksgiving break!!! More to come.....
I could not have imagined my belly this big (which I know will get bigger) nor the size of my heart for this little boy whom I don't even know. Over half way to the finish line (or the starting blocks) and I am already in love!
To date, Ben and I have learned several things:
1. Jackson likes to do the Cha Cha in my belly when I drink a coke. I will NOT do that again! :)
2. I am now using the pregnancy pillow due to my obsession (in my sleep) to sleep on my stomach. I turn a lot.....I guess he takes after his mama!
3. Jackson will be the first boy grandchild in 30 years! My brother is the only other one! My grandfather just glows when I visit. He even calls to ask how his little "Jack" is doing! (He is named after him)
4. I love the feel of his arms and legs kicking at my stomach. It is amazing to feel the new life growing inside me! Ben felt him kick for the first time last week. I teared up a little bit!
5. If I am having a stressful moment at school, I just take a moment and look at the picture of Jackson on my desk and it takes me to another world. I have been less stressed this year than any other year. I'm thankful to have a new focus!!!
6. Ben and I can't wait to hold our son and smell the "baby" smell. :)
All in all, pregnancy is wonderful and I can't wait to see our son and hold him in my arms!

Week 15-17
According to "WHAT TO EXPECT:" Week 15
Our baby is as long as four and a half inches right now, and weighs a bit over two ounces. Hold a large navel orange in your hand — that's how big our little darlin' is.
Week 16:
Your baby now weighs in at a whopping three to five ounces, and he's four to five inches in length. The bones that are now in place in his ears means he can probably hear your voice as you talk to your partner and pals and sing in the car. While he’s getting used to your voice, the tiny muscles in his body, especially the ones in his back, are gaining strength, so he can straighten out a little more. And thanks to his developing facial muscles, your baby is capable of making a few expressive frowns and squints, even at this early stage. (Don’t worry, those frowns have nothing to do with the sound of your voice!) And his eyes are finally working, making small side-to-side movements and perceiving light (although the eyelids are still sealed). Peekaboo!
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8th, 6:30pm.
Becky (Grandmother Ladd), Tricia (Grandmother Terrell), Ben and I went to an Ultrasound place in Cumming to find out the gender of our precious baby. Grandpa David is in Colorado and Grandpa Chuck was at work in Cumming. We walked in and saw all of these wonderful baby posters/photography on the wall. We entered the room with these wonderfully large tv screens. I said on the plum colored sheeted table and she put the "cold goo" on my belly. I was NOT very emotional the first time, but this time I was! The grandmothers didn't cry, my hubby didn't cry, but me?! I was tearing up. It was so awesome to see my LITTLE MAN moving around. Now, I can't feel Jackson Thomas yet, but I will look forward to that day later on.
Jackson is my mom's maiden name. My grandfather was called JACK on the basketball court and in the Army. Plus, both my uncles had two girls each and I thought it would be nice to keep that strong name alive! Thomas is Benjamin's middle name. Both of his grandfathers' names were Thomas. I think on the basketball court, they will yell out JACK ATTACK. I can see it now!
We are very excited and looking forward to decorating the nursery. I am planning a Walter Anderson themed room.

There will be his Alphabet block prints lining the walls and a plaid theme to go with it. We are only going to do his name and not the whole alphabet!
His photo will be attached in the next post. I have to upload it later!
Here we go.......it is going to be fun having a boy!

September 19/October 7th
September 19: We went to Buy Buy Baby and Babies R Us to try out gliders for our baby's room. I'm so tired today, I think I would like to go and try one out for an exceptionally long period of time.
October 7th: Today was the day! We decided to walk in and purchase our chair. SCARY! We had a 20% coupon from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Buy Buy Baby will take BB and B coupons. AMAZING! We got a chunk of the cost taken care of with our coupon. Well, we went in and sat down and made sure it was THE ONE! Great.....we will take it! We went over and they said that they had 3 in stock. GREAT! We like the color and wood and we will take it today! They were like, "okay........" So, they went and 20 minutes later came back and said that they couldn't find them. After 45 minutes of waiting on the process, they said, "We found them!" One is the display and the other two are in the nursing room for the moms. We were so excited we thought about it for a moment and asked how much one of them would be (discount) if we wanted to buy one. The store is only 2 weeks old. They aren't that worn out. They said an extra 10% off? Not worth it. We decided to order one. After an hour and a half, we had ordered it and paid for it. We stood at the check out for 25 minutes waiting to pay for the crazy thing. Now.......wait.....the time frame we will be receiving it is between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'm glad we ordered it now. :) Photos when the lovely thing arrives......

From Laura's perspective
August 17, 2010: We went to the doctor to hear the heartbeat. That special moment that you see on the movies and T.V. The parents either tear up or cry. Ben and I looked at each other and just said, "Look, there it is!" We surprisingly didn't cry. We were just very excited. That evening I had to hold in my facebook excitement and not post anything until I told my principal that next morning. I eagerly got to school early and turns out she had taken her daughters to their dentist appointment. I had to wait until noon to tell her! When I finally did, she was thrilled and sent an email out to the staff immediately! I knew that I could put it on facebook that evening!!!
9-13-10- Even 13 weeks into this excitement of a life-changing experience, I have not thrown up once and haven't been sad by gaining weight! I know......all you moms out there right now are throwing stuff at your computer. I'm sorry. God blessed me "this go round" without morning sickness! That is not to say that I won't get it for the next one. I am into my second trimester and am looking forward to getting more energy. I do miss having an abundance of energy to get things done, but I know that I need to rest now.....while I can!
Also, the weight gain thing....well, with my celiac disease, I didn't gain weight for 3 years. So, I don't mind a little weight. I have the healthiest baby right now. I can't eat anything that has wheat, barley, rye, gluten in it. So, no doughnuts, pizza, pasta, bread. (unless GF)
Cravings? Apple Juice, McAlisters's spud (only Mississippi people will understand), chic-fil-a fries, Mrs. Cathie's pimento cheese, my mom's chex krispie treats, and grapes. I was on an apple kick until I found out it gives you constipation.....so yeah.....I'll just stick with my apple juice. (TMI, I know)
My family and friends have already been so supportive! I'd like to thank Mark and Barrett, Charles and Quay, and Jon and Katelyn! I'm on my way with lots of the essentials for the room!!
I will hopefully keep this updated with new pictures and blogs with my journey ahead. Our next baby portrait will be ready on Wednesday. We have our 2nd appointment!!
For a future blog, I would love any advice you would like to throw my way. I have been reading and reading and sometimes it is nice to have advice from a person you know!
